Questions? We have the answers. Have a look through our Biofirefuel FAQ page.

Bioethanol, also known as bioalcohol or ethyl alcohol, is a renewable fuel produced from fermenting plant biomass. Bioethanol is clean burning and has minimal greenhouse gas emissions.

Bioethanol is made through a fermentation process that converts the sugars in plant material, such as corn, sugarcane, or cellulose, into alcohol.

Bioethanol is the cleanest and most efficient fuel on the market. It produces no emissions, soot, or ash, making it an environmentally friendly choice for heating and fireplaces.

Bioethanol fireplaces allow users to create a warm atmosphere without the need for installation, flue, ventilation, or electricity. The bioethanol burner can be positioned almost anywhere, including both indoors and outdoors.

Yes! During combustion, bioethanol emissions include heat, steam, and a small amount of carbon dioxide. The CO2 is absorbed by plants through photosynthesis, making bioethanol a carbon-neutral fuel source. Also, the entire production plant is powered by green energy, via water power.

Bioethanol simplifies installation requirements and costs. No flue or chimney is needed, providing design flexibility for indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s versatile, aesthetically pleasing, and energy-efficient.

Store your bottles of bioethanol in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep the container tightly sealed when not in use.

While we provide general information on using bioethanol (see our Safety Information page), it’s important to consult the instructions or user manual for your specific application. The manufacturer will have the most up-to-date recommendations for safe and effective use of bioethanol with their product..

The heat output depends on the fireplace size and room dimensions.

The burn time of a 1 litre bottle of bioethanol depends on several factors:

  • Burn setting: Most applications will have a variable burn intensity setting. A higher setting will consume fuel faster than a lower setting.
  • Container design: Some fireplaces or burners may be more efficient at using bioethanol than others.
  • Extinction during use: If you extinguish the flame and then relight it later, the total burn time won’t be reduced significantly.

Here’s a general guideline:

  • On high setting: Expect a 1 litre bottle to burn for approximately 2-3 hours.
  • On low setting: You might get 4-6 hours of burn time from a 1 litre bottle.

Remember: These are just estimates. Always refer to the specific instructions for your bioethanol fireplace, camp stove, or other application to get the most accurate burn time information.

All of our website prices include vat at the reduced rate of 5% for bioethanol. If you are purchasing bioethanol for the purpose of resale, please contact us as this attracts a rate of 20% vat.

The BRCGS certified (AA standard) child-proof cap can be opened by simultaneously pressing and turning anti-clockwise. Proper hand placement also helps significantly when opening a child-resistant cap. One hand should be placed under the bottle while the other pushes down on the cap while turning anti-clockwise. Please see our instruction video below.

All bottles are produced within a BRCGS certified (AA standard) environment. Not only is the entire production plant powered by green energy, via water power but it also meets the highest level of safety packaging regulations including the certified Child proof safety cap. This ensures the product reaches every customer in the same condition it left the manufacturer.
